Karenanna Boyle Creps’ teaching and research interests are at the nexus of contemporary intercultural performing arts education in both K12 and postsecondary contexts, through: arts-based curriculum and instruction; teacher education grounded in applied theatre; a/r/tography; the incorporation of culturally diverse, experiential arts subject area content for postsecondary students, including guest artist workshops and place-based arts education; researching arts- and humanities-based approaches to intercultural teaching and learning on short-term, faculty-led study abroad programs. Her dissertation, rooted in arts-based educational research, is a performance ethnography that will contain a dramatic text that draws upon her students’ coursework and experiences, along with her own, of the intercultural, arts-based curricula and pedagogies she designed and implemented on MSU Freshman Seminar Abroad programs in Spain (2017) and Italy (2018).
